Changes to our Out of Hours Service

If your pet has an emergency during our normal opening hours, please call the practice and we will advise you what to do next.

From Friday 20th November 2020 if you have an emergency when we are closed, please contact our partners Vets Now on 023 9217 0056.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that at this present time we are unable to adequately staff our own out of hours service without compromising the level of care for patients and the welfare of our wonderful team.  For this reason, we have made a recent change to our out-of-hours provision, partnering with Vets Now, a dedicated pet emergency service which provides expert pet emergency care when we are closed.  At AlphaPet, we know your pets are part of your family and our priority is, and always will be, to ensure they have access to the very best care, no matter what time of day or night it is.

Vets Now is the pet equivalent of an accident and emergency service, dedicated to providing pets with access to a vet out of hours. It’s all they do. Based at Farlington in Portsmouth, their vets and vet nurses are specially trained to deal with pet emergencies. Because they don’t work during the day, they’ll be up and ready to see your pet at the time you need them.

Vets Now has been providing dedicated out-of-hours emergency pet care across the UK for more than 15 years, and now responds to almost half-a-million pet emergencies every year.  We believe our partnership offers you and your pet the very best level of care, day
and night.  You can find out more about their service here

At AlphaPet we know your pets are part of your family and our priority is, and always will be, to ensure they have access to the very best care, no matter what the time of day or night.

Don’t forget, their team don’t work during the day, so you don’t have to worry about disturbing them at night. So, if you’re worried about your pet don’t hesitate to give them a call, and they’ll advise what you should do next. We would remind you that Vets Now is a pet emergency service. For routine cases such as vaccinations and topical treatments, please call us as you would normally, during our daytime opening hours.

Important News

We are sad to announce that our Clinical Directors, Doug Alexander and Richard Edwards, are retiring from AlphaPet at the end of November.

This has been a hugely difficult decision for them both but the time is right to hand over the reins to a younger generation to take AlphaPet forward, and to continue to build on the values and vision that they have instilled in all of us to deliver exceptional care for the lives of your pets.

We wish them well in whatever new ventures they decide to take on.
